BOOSTER MEETING MINUTES HIGHLIGHTS
February 17, 2025
Regular Monthly Meeting
Meeting called to order by Tracey Hofmann at 7:02 PM.
Attendees: Linda Collazo, Dori Cowan, Jason Gallagher, Tracey Hofmann, Tim Keleher, Seth Mirowitz, and Myra Ortega.
Greetings and introductions held.
January 27, 2025 meeting minutes approved with the correction of Seth Mirowitz’s first name under the Music Department Report point 3, and the Berks Jazz Festival date correction to April 9, 2025. All approve.
Music Department Report​s

Instrumental Departments
-
Jazz at Lincoln Center Competition at Temple to be attended on 3/4/25. Not a group competition, but solo student awards are presented. College program staff will attend the event so student identification for college recruitment along with scholarship offers is possible.

Pit Orchestra will perform at the musical Mary Poppins on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM on 2/28, 3/1, 3/7, 3/8, and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 PM on 3/2 and 3/9/25. CHE is one of few schools to have an in-house student run pit orchestra to perform for their musicals, providing student musicians with a valuable and unique experience.

The Jazz Band Cavalcade Competition future dates are 2/21/25 at Clayton HS, NJ; 3/22/25 at West Chester University; 3/28/25 at William Tennent. Three events must be attended to qualify for the finals, to be held tentatively on April 4.

SJ All Jazz Band auditions to be held on March 17.

Lab Band at Rowan Jazz Festival Competition.

Chamber Music Concert to be held at East Little Theater on April 2 at 7:30 PM.

Berks Jazz Festival will be attended on April 9, 2025.

Chamber Groups Concert to be held at the Cherry Hill Public Library April 10 at 1 PM.

Naptown (Annapolis) Jazz Kids Big Band Invitational sponsored by the University of Maryland in Baltimore to be attended on Saturday April 26.

Bands concert to be held at CHE on April 30 at 7:30 PM.

Orchestra and Jazz Bands Concert to be held at CHE on May 1 at 7:30 PM.

Council Rock South Symphony Orchestra Festival to be attended on May 9.

Choral Department
-
Congratulations to Stay Tuned for taking 1st place at the ICHSA competition quarterfinals on 2/8/25!

Stay Tuned to compete at the ICHSA semi-finals in Neptune, NJ on March 29.
-
ICHSA finals will be held in Ramsay, NJ on April 5th.

Coffee House to be held on April 26 from 7 to 10 PM.

Choral Concert to be held at CHE on May 21 at 7:30 PM.
​​Membership Report/ Treasurer Report

Two new memberships in the past month, 1 Silver, 1 Gold.

Total membership stands at 109.

Transition of the Treasurer position from Bannett to Gallagher to be finalized on March 1 with the accounting software.

Names on the Booster bank account to be formally changed to Hofmann as President and Gallagher as Treasurer on March 1.
-
Discussion on ways to communicate to prospective members how Booster funds support the East music department and students with real life examples initiated by Mirowitz.

Zelle to start being used by the Boosters for events and memberships.

Spring Dine & Donate tentatively planned for May. Tracey and Jenny have reached out to Chef Zhang on Rt. 73 as a possible location for the event.

Pat’s Select still not forthcoming with the funds collected at the January Dine and Donate event.

The Spring Concerts program discussed with ad prices to remain the same and a deadline for ad and Shout Out submissions discussed.

Program completion goal set for April 9 to give plenty of time for printing.

Banners for seniors in the Marching Band and Color Guard to be further researched.
