Cherry Hill East Music Boosters Meeting

October 20, 2025

 

Meeting called to order by Tracey Hofmann at 7:05 PM.

Attendees: Kristine Clark, Linda Collazo, Jodi Gorenberg, Tracey Hofmann, Tim Keleher, Howard Megdal, Myra Ortega, Leah and Ted Wallach.

 

Minutes from September 15, 2025 meeting approved.

 

Music Department Reports

• Fall Preview Concert to be held on October 29 at 7pm. Programs will be available with use of a QR code.

 

Marching Band​

• The Marching Band took 4th place with their performance of Beyond Human at the Tournament of Bands (TOB) Region 1 Competition on October 19.

• MB to compete in the TOB Region 1 Championships on October 25 at Toms River HS East. Students leaving early to attend HOCOrade must have parent permission. If enough students are leaving early, they will be bussed back to East. If there are not enough students leaving early to fill a bus, students leaving early will need to be picked up at an arranged time and place only with pre-arranged parent permission.

• MB to compete at the TOB Atlantic Coast Championships at Hershey Park on November 2 at 9am. Expect an early report time. Details and itinerary to follow.

• Football playoff schedule to be announced. Details will be sent out as soon as possible once they are known.

 

Instrumental Department

• The Navy Commodores, including East alum Ben Tuner, performed for the instrumental students at East on October 9.

• Jazz Band to perform a Chuck Mangione piece, The Children of Sanchez, as the finale of the Fall Preview Concert on October 29. 

• Michael Ludwig, professional violinist, will perform in a Fiddler on the Roof medley with East Symphony Orchestra students at the Winter Concert. Honorarium to be supplied from the Boosters Instrumental budget.

• Jazz festival details and dates will be released soon. Festivals to attend will be selected with consideration of the East schedule.

• Jazz Band has been invited back to Maryland and Jazz at Lincoln Center this year.

• Symphony Orchestra has been invited to Carnegie Hall in June and Lincoln Center in March. Feasibility will be considered to see if attending one of these opportunities will be possible.

• Footloose will be the spring musical.

 

Vocal Department

• A very successful vertical fundraiser was held to help offset the cost to students of the choir trip to Williamsburg VA in April 2026.

• Stay Tuned performed in support of a Breast Cancer fundraiser.

 

Membership Report/ Treasurer Report

• Membership report to be forwarded.

• Future vertical fundraisers will be considered to help offset the cost of student travel opportunities given the success of the Vocal department’s vertical fundraiser for their Williamsburg trip.

• Looking for volunteers to help coordinate Booster Restaurant Night fundraisers. 

• Tracey Hofmann will present Booster information at the Fall Preview Concert, just after the Symphony Orchestra performance.

 

Adjournment/ Next Meeting 

• Next meeting to be held Monday, November 17 at 7 PM.

• Cherry Hill East Music Booster meetings to be held on the 3rd Monday of each month of the school year.

• Meeting adjournment at 7:52pm.
