BOOSTER MEETING MINUTES HIGHLIGHTS

November 2024

Regular Monthly Meeting

Tracey Hofmann called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM

 

Attendees: Jeff Adams, Linda Collazo, Ann Gallagher, Jason Gallagher, Vivian Garcia, Jodi Gorenberg, Lauren Greenberg, Tracey Hofmann, Tim Keleher, Rachelle Megdal, Seth Mirowitz, Myra Ortega, Debbie Ottenberg, Liza Zorn


Greetings and introductions took place with the new attendees.
October 21, 2024 meeting minutes approved.

 

Music Department Report​s

​

Marching Band

  • Championship Competition. Congratulations to the Marching Band & Color Guard. Marching Band brought home the Bronze medal from the Cavalcade of Bands

  • Marching Band will perform at Rosa Middle School November 25 (last performance).

​

Instrumental Departments

  • Jazz Standards will perform at the CH Fraternal Order of Police’s Holiday Party for children with special needs on 12/9/24 at the Crowne Plaza (invitation only).

  • The Chamber Groups will perform at the Cherry Hill Free Public Library on 12/19, 12PM to 1PM.

  • The Winter Instrumental Concert will be held 12/18 at 7:30 PM.

  • Jazz Band will perform assemblies on 12/20 at Beck, Harte, and Sharp schools.

  • The Jazz Band Cavalcade Competition schedule dates are: 2/14/25 at Cheltenham PA; 2/22/25 at Collegium Charter School in Exton PA; 3/22/25 at West Chester PA; 3/28/25 at Marple Newtown PA. Three events must be attended to qualify for the finals, to be held in April.

  • Jazz at Lincoln Center Competition at Temple (with awards and scholarship money for winning students) will be attended on 3/4/25.

  • Berks Jazz Festival will be attended on April 8 (or 9?), 2025.

  • Pit Orchestra will perform at the musical Mary Poppins on 2/28, 3/2, 3/7, 3/8, and 3/9/25.

  • Students are being encouraged to audition for the All South Jersey Orchestra and All South Jersey Jazz to be held in March.

  • Saxophone and Clarinet ensembles starting up.

  • Opportunities for guitar players, and the lack of rock and roll opportunities in the department, were discussed.

 

Choral Department

  • Voce, Belles, and Stay Tuned will perform at Cherry Hill Winter Festival at 1:45 PM on 12/8 at Croft Farm.

  • The three small groups, Voce, Belles, and Stay Tuned, will perform at Radio City Music Hall on 12/11 and will stay for the show. Details and information on how to purchase tickets is being provided for families.

  • Voce, Belles, and Stay Tuned will perform for the Haddonfield Candlelight shopping on 12/20, 6PM to 8:30PM with an end performance at the Ellis Street Gazebo.

  • The Winter Choral Concert will be held on 1/9/25 at 7:30 PM.

  • Rollo Dilworth, nationally recognized vocal composer, educator, and Temple professor, has been engaged to work with the Middle and High School vocal groups on 1/24/25.

  • Cherry Hill East to host the ICHSA competition quarterfinals on 2/8/25. Boosters will help provide volunteer support for this exciting event.

  • Sixteen East students were accepted into the All South Jersey Chorus. Congratulations.

Membership Report/ Treasurer Report

  • New membership breakdown: 5 Premium; 5 Gold; 2 Silver; 2 Faculty.

  • Dine and Donate fundraiser held on 11/13 at Panera Bread raised $283.61 for the Boosters.

  • Possibility of scheduling another Dine and Donate fundraiser this winter.

  • Deadline for the Winter Concerts program submission discussed.

  • Gorenberg to put out a Sign-Up Genius for the Winter Concerts.

Adjournment/Next Meeting

  • Next meeting to be held December 16, 2024 at 7PM.

  • East Music Booster meetings to be held on the 3rd Monday of each month.

  • Meeting adjournment at 7:39 PM.
